Is Windows better for students than any other operating system?

  A completely meaningless question!
  

  You really need to figure out what you are trying to achieve then you can decide whether the solutions on platform X are suitable for your needs. There is never going to to one single answer for everyone + without exception every platform will have some compromise for you individually.

  Hi Gia Ancona,
  
  I'm afraid no one can say what is the best or better Operating System. It depends what you (or students) expect from OS, or what application you will use. 
  We have some limitations also, i.e. cost, system requirements (resource required by OS), etc.
  If you provide more information, many will provide many answers.
