Mediation Server service could not be started RRS feed

  • Question

    Hi Guys,

    I have this strange problem.

    I have installed a new Mediation Server (is my first installation) for integration with Cisco CCM.

    The server don't start the error is:

    Mediation Server service could not be started.

    Exception: Microsoft.RTC.MediationServerCore.InitializationException: Mediation Server needs to run with workstation GC.

    at Microsoft.RTC.MediationServerCore.Server.OnStart()

    Cause: Internal error or a previous failure.

    Examine the details of this event log entry and any other previous failures to determine the potential cause.

    Any suggestion?

  • Hi,

    Can you have a look at your
    MediationServerSvc.exe.config (if you happen to have it) and post it here? I am guessing something wrong there...

    I didn't know what Workstation GC was and it seems to be a Garbage Collector in .NET which can be either server based (multi-threaded) or workstation based (single-threaded) and is controlled by the following parameter in the .exe.config file
    <gcServer enabled="false"/>

    Might be worthwhile to check it before doing a complete reinstallation :-)

  • Try creating the file MediationServerSvc.exe.config and add the following and see what happens.

          <gcServer enabled="false"/>

    It can't get any worse then now I guess ;-)
