I'm lost here, I created an "ID" so I could ask a couple of Q's... RRS feed

  • Question

  • now I can't figure this out

    1> I don't want to install anything? (it's not my machine)
    2> I don't want to get a bill for anything?
    3> I don't want to sign up for anything other than the forum?

    so don't think I'm stupid just never seen this happen before

    I frequent other forums etc. a lot but I've never been here before either

    so the questions are
    > am I gonna get a bill for this?
    > why isn't it called "onecare" from the start?
    > if I'm gonna get a bill for this how do I cancel?

  • A Live ID is nothing more than a user name and password which can be used at all Microsoft sites which require logging in. There is no charge for this service.

  • Thanks for the info, (JimR1)

    The only reason I asked was because one of the links on the sign up page had a section in the doc about charges etc.
    and it wasn't clear about what incurs charges other than internet fees but seem to state that there could be other charges for using the service also
     (blasted legal stuff anyway)

    I have other Q's then;

    > Is there a general "Windows OS Q&A Forum" or is this it?
    > if this is not where would I go, because I thought that's where the original signup for the "ID" was going to send me
