  • Hi Ravi,

WinXP is not a supported OS for crm reporting extension, you can check system requirement for the same

    http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=27823

you can try to create a VPC if you don't have option for new os.

  • How about Windows server 2003 r2 sp2. Is there any way i can customise the account overview report. or create a multi section non tabular report like the one in account overview. Using either windows xp professional sp3 or windows server 2003 r2 sp2. We are using dynamics crm 2011 online version and not the on premise version.

    Sincerely

  • Hi Ravi,

yes you can do it for online as well, you need

    •
      • Windows 7
      • Windows Vista Service Pack 2
      • Windows Server 2008 R2
      • Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2
The Microsoft Dynamics CRM Report Authoring Extension also installs Windows Identity Foundation. The following versions are supported by Business Intelligence Development Studio and Windows Identity Foundation:

    •
      • Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1
      • Business Intelligence Development Studio
      The following components are required:

      Note:
Microsoft Dynamics CRM Report Authoring Extension is available only in a 32-bit version because Business Intelligence Development Studio is a 32-bit development environment.

Also I will suggest you to check this http://www.dynamicscrmtrickbag.com/2011/05/12/custom-ssrs-reports-for-dynamics-crm-2011-online/

it will surely going to help you.

  • How can Microsoft just expect people to change their Operating system just to add functionality to a product that we have purchased or subscribed to and to which we are entitled to. We were not told when we subscribed to dynamics crm online that we would need windows 7, vista or 2008 OS to support crm customisation.

  • I checked the link. However the only operating systems I have at my disposal are winxp professional sp3 and windows server 2003 r2 sp2. And when I try and install crm report authoring extension, I get an error: Operating system not supported. Therefore how can i customise a crm online 'account overview' report or create custom multi section non tabular reports for crm online, either using crm web resources and javascript coding or any other method. Note: crm sdk 2011 on win xp fails since windows identity foundation for win xp is not available. Crm sdk 2011 will not work in visual web developer 2008 which is installed on winserver 2003, since it requires .net framework ver. 4.0 and visual web developer 2008 does not support .net framework 4.0. I cannot install visual web developer 2011 express on server.
