Integration with Microsoft Answers Forum RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • We are living in new era for web development and there new web design standards like Responsive Design, better performance and so on. The current forum for MSDN and TechNet are not supporting modern standards and therefore we recommend to consider upgrade platform to support modern standards. For this reason , I strongly recommend to upgrade platform to be similar to Microsoft Answers forum:

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/

    There are following benefits:

    1) Better design and responsive design which adhere with modern standards for web development.

    2) Answers and Posts for users in Answers forum and TechNet forum will become one.

However, there are certain features need to be consider and missing in Answers forum and need to be consider:

    1) Code highlighter

    2) Graph of participation and medals

    3) Report of posts Wikis

MSDN and TechNet are not supporting modern website standards. For example we couldn't browse this website on tablet or touch-based devices.

In addition, if there is no plan of integrating TechNet and MSDN forums with Microsoft Answers, please consider upgrading this platform to support modern web standards.

Microsoft has launched a new forum called Microsoft QnA (https://docs.microsoft.com/answers/questions/index.html); most of the products will be supported there soon.

Hopefully they will have the better modern design. You may also post a feedback/idea on that site.

  • All TechNet and MSDN forums will migrate to the new Microsoft Q&A site during 2020. Already there are 15 products/technologies supported, mostly Azure related, but also UWP, WPF and Windows 10 Installation/setup/deployment. The former forums are now read-only.

Read the FAQ and other help documents linked on the page. You can even provide feedback on the new site here:

  • Great news and thank you for letting me now.

I also hope for integrity of contribution, for example I have contribution in Microsoft Answers and some here. Instead of having two separate data , it would be nice to have one data for both.

May be I should wait for complete integration and submit this as feedback.

  • There has been no mention of integrating the Answers forums. Since the target audience for Answers is consumers, rather than IT Pros or developers, my guess is they won't.
