  • Question

  • Hello,

I have purchased a new PC with Windows 7 already installed. Since the very first day I get the "Windows in not running genuine Windows" notification. (oX8004fe21).

I tried "resolve online now" but the automatic detector (http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate/?hrOffline=0x8004fe21) recognises my system as  "Not Original". I even called the activation number and typed in my Windows Product Key. It said it is not a valid key.

I don't use Vistalizator or anything similar.I haven't made any changes with to the language options. When I first started Windows 7 I could choose between several languages and took English. My Keyboard setting is German, my location Switzerland

It would be great if someone could help on this.

    Thanks

    Hello,

    Thanks

  • Hello, jodosh

As Noel implied, files have been changed that are normally associated with Vistalizator.

It is possible that Vistalizator was installed prior to you purchasing the computer.
Does your computer have a name-brand or was it built by the store that you got it from?

Since this happened on day one, you may choose to return the computer.

    Hello, jodosh

The key that is being used has been blocked.
In addition, as Noel implied, files have been changed that are normally associated with Vistalizator.

Since this happened on day one, I would recommend returning the computer and purchasing from an authorized retailer.

OEM_SLP Key blocked??? are you sure, David?
Up until now, the only one like that I knew of was the infamous Lenovo Key.
I can understand it being invalid in this install, since it looks like it's been installed on a retail motherboard - but Blocked?

  • My mistake, I misunderstood the tool that I use to check keys. No, the key is not banned and will still self-activate.
I have updated my previous post with new information.

  • Also, please note that the OEM_SLP License you are currently using may not be valid for use, as it appears to be installed on a retail motherboard. Although it currently shows as being genuine, it looks very much to me as if the BIOS links has been hacked in some way to force the install of the OS

A normal retail BIOS would look something like this....

    OEM Activation 2.0 Data-->
BIOS valid for OA 2.0: yes, but no SLIC table
    Windows marker version: N/A
    OEMID and OEMTableID Consistent: N/A
    BIOS Information:
ACPI Table Name    OEMID Value    OEMTableID Value
      APIC            GBT           GBTUACPI
      FACP            GBT           GBTUACPI
      HPET            GBT           GBTUACPI
      MCFG            GBT           GBTUACPI
      EUDS            GBT
      TAMG            GBT           GBT   B0
      SSDT            INTEL        PPM RCM

As David suggests - I think your best option is to take the machine back to your vendor, and demand a refund, and then buy from a reputable dealer.
