From Vista to Wondows 7: How about my Mesh? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'd be very thankful if you could help me with this:

Recently my laptop was brought down by huge viruses (damn those who spread viruses!).
That laptop was running on Windows Vista including Mesh of course.
My 'new' laptop is running on Windows 7 and now I want to install Mesh as well.
How can I make Mesh to identify my Windows 7 system as my previous Vista system?
Otherwise I can't access my files, right?

    greetings from Danielle!

  • Hi, Danielle.
Once Live Mesh is working 100% again (see here: http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/LiveMesh/thread/fcccac2c-5fcd-4dad-a852-03f745c88414) you will want to remove the PC from the Mesh at www.mesh.com after signing in. Since you did a reinstall, it is indeed a "new" PC to Live Mesh. Once you add the device to your Mesh by installing the Live Mesh client and signing in, you should be offered all of the folders from the Live Desktop (and/or other devices in your Mesh) as light blue folders on your local desktop. You can then click to accept each folder and click the Browse button before letting the folder sync to the desktop - navigating to an existing local folder to merge the offered folder with the existing one.
