SD card trouble

     I'm trying to put a SanDisk Extreme SDXC UHS-1 card in my laptop for some temporary extra storage.  I have an HP Pavilion        touchscreen 15" laptop. I see an empty slot for a memory card but my laptop won't recognize it. Driver error 10 or something      like that is the code I'm getting. My drivers are updated. The SD card is a 256 GB...brand new out of the package.

     Am I doing something wrong?
