Does WHS need port IIS @ 80? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Does Windows Home Server (& its clients) _REQUIRE_  use of services (or pages) via IIS, using port 80, for Backup or any other internal, LAN-based WHS service?
I know there are other ports in use, and I'd like to serve other files (and use PHP scripts), using internal-facing IPs.

( I want to change what pages are served when users access http://SERVER/ )

Thanks for all your help out there.

Answers

  • No, it is only used to serve the Windows Home Server Web Site page. The remote login requires the use of HTTPS port 443
