permanently STOP windows 10 download RRS feed

  • Question

  • i'm using Windows 8.1 and am happy with it.

I DO NOT WANT WINDOWS 10.  EVER.

i have unchecked the "optional" windows 10 upgrade, hidden the update,  removed relevant KB files, rebooted system, etc.

yet Windows 10 still automatically starts downloading to my system when I try to install RELEVANT Windows 8.1 updates.

no one at Microsoft seems to think this force feeding of an update is a big deal because I've searched high and low and have not found a way to stop this UNWANTED DOWNLOAD OF WINDOWS 10.  Permanently.  Forever.

    can anyone help me?

  • Hello,

I'd ask in the Windows 10 Community forum on Microsoft Community.

As the Microsoft Community is on a different platform, we cannot move the question for you.

Once there, click on Participate near the top of the screen, and select 'Ask a Question' or 'Start a Discussion'

  • You can uninstall the update KB3035583 or you can navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Gwx and create a new REG_DWORD registry value called DisableGwx then set the value to 1

  • i posted this topic here as it was suggested by someone in another forum.

it's astounding that there is not a SIMPLE 100% effective way to "Just Say NO!" to Windows 10.

i've had this post up for a week and NO ONE from Microsoft has even commented on it
