New Computer not able to connect to WHS RRS feed

  • Question

  • Before I start, I want to say that I am still using WHS V1 for DE purposes and am not willing to change at present.

I have just built a new PC and have connected it to my network. The computer can see all computers on the network and can connect to the internet perfect.

The problem comes to when I try and connect to the server, I have tried to use the \\server to access it then I put in the details properly and it comes back saying unknown user: incorrect username or password. I am trying to use the Admin username and password to access the server so I can get the connector software.

I am able to remote desktop perfectly without a problem. I have also took the connector software off the server and tried to install that on the computer but it says the same thing.

My networked setup comprises of 4 computers (server + 3 Windows 7 PCs) all wired so really I shouldn't be having a problem. I have also tried a router reset to reset all IPs but still nothing. So any help would be appreciated.

  • Solved it, for some reason my wifes computer which is Windows 7 Home Premium x86 the UAC wouldn't allow me to connect the software or go to the servers media files. All the time is was giving me the incorrect username and password, so all it did was lower the level to the bottom and install the connector software, then i raised the UAC back up. Now it works like a charm.
