tune up

Question
-
I have installed onecare live and for the past 72hrs the tune up stalls @ 68% on scanning downloads /software.
I use the cancel tuneup option and the system freezes. I look at the onecare icon and it shows tuneup in progress
I end up using task manager to close out onecare,
I have tried removing onecare to reinstall but I can not open my control panel or it opens and shows me a blank screen
for add/remove programs.
When I go to shutdown or restart my computer again the system freezes
any suggestions would greatly be appreciated

You may want to try the cleanup tool -

before reinstalling.
The stuck scan may indicate that OneCare has hung on a specific file or is in conflict with something else, causing the system deadlock. If there is any other security software actively monitoring, that could be the cause. The hang on shutdown and the blank add/remove list, wouldn't be related, but may be if the cause is a hung process due to a conflict.
