Why am I not eligible??? RRS feed

  • Question

  • You have been directed to this page because the system you are using has failed to meet the eligibility requirements of the BONUS PACK Offer(s) you are attempting to redeem.

Why???  I have a licensed and paid for version of Office 2007, Viso 2007, & Project 2007.  I participated in the Beta program.  Now you tell me I had to of buy my product from a specific vendor.  Isn't that like a car insurance company telling you which repair shops your allowed to take your car to to get fixed???

I don't think that's fair and out of the hundreds of vendors that sell PC's not to many people are going to be eligible to redeem this promotion.  It's like saying you'll win the 1 million dollar lottery if you buy 50 million dollars worth of tickets..... This is a reward.  Looks more like a PR move and a scam.......  Might want to forward this one to the news.  Microsoft can always use the press.  Like Microsoft is barley making any money.

Thanks, for treating us end users like idiots..........

  • Dear Shawn,

This particular promotion, the Buy Local promotion, was designed to give local PC builders an incentive they can provide to their customers.  Large OEMs such as Dell, HP and Toshiba often have these incentive programs for their own PCs to reward purchase.  Unfortunately, local PC builders often don't have the marketing clout to go and negotiate their own incentives.  Many are small shops with a handful of employees who serve local markets.  Our objective was to provide marketing support and assistance to this very important channel.  To do this we have worked very closely with the local PC builders and with the offer providers to put together an incentive program that rewards their customers for purchases and makes them more comparable with the big OEMs.

Unfortunately it sounds like you're concerned your purchase does not qualify.  We've done our best to convey the nature of this promotion and its applicability.  The model is similar not just to OEMs offering incentives but really to any retailer.  But, if you feel there's a place we can be more explicit please let us know and we will try and address it.

In the interim, we want to remind you that there are many partners who offer Microsoft software, each offering their own incentives and benefits for purchase.  You can purchase our software from retailer partners, multi-national OEMs, local PC builders, solution providers and more.  You have the choice based on the factors that matter most to you - distance to seller, service plans available, price and more.

Please let me know if you have additional questions or comments.

    Thank you,

    Jenifer
