    Hi Guys,

I'm after a bit of advice.

We have a customer just about to purchase a new server (64bit). There questions is simple. Do they need SQL Server 2005 or SQL Server 2008 Standard  or Enterprise?

From looking at a couple of posts there seems to be mixed results, apart from the obvious reason to use SQL 2008 is there any reasons why they should not? If not, would you recommend SQL Standard or Enterprise edition?

    Thanks in advanced.

  • Hi,

Dynamics CRM 4.0 will work on any SQL Server 2005 64Bit (Standard / Enteprise / Developer) and also on SQL Server 2005 Workgroup, all with SP2. If you want to use the Workgroup edition, you may use it only when CRM is installed on Windows Small Business Server.

SQL Server 2008 Standard or Enterprise are not listed as supported database engines for CRM 4.0 in any documentation so far, but CRM installs and works fine on both of them. SQL Server 2008 is generally a better option, because it is simply a newer system, performing faster and working better Smile.

    Kind regards,

    Kuba

  • I cant say exaclty about sql server 2008 but yes with sql 2005 (64bit) the MSCRM works perfect.

It worked perfectly for my new (64bit) server.
