Home Server based on Server 2003 SP2 or SBS? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I need some clarification on Windows Home Server. I have gotten conflicting data that Windows Home Server is based on Windows Server 2003 SP2 and that it is based on the Small Business Server (SBS).  Could you confirm which one is true or is WHS a completely new version?

  • Specifically, it's based on Windows Server 2003 for Small Business Server, which in turn is based on W2K3 SP2.

  • It is based on Server 2003 but since it is made by the Windows Server Solutions Group (the same group that makes SBS) it will share some bits from SBS.

There is no sense in basing this product on SBS because every major feature added to SBS isn't in WHS.
