Office XP Validation Problem (Still A Problem) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Any help for this problem?  And how do these posts/threads get marked?  Somehow my thread became marked as having an answer when there is still a problem.  I'm guessing that's why it seems to be ignored.

    tnx, Daniel R. Rhode

    Hi Stephen Holm,

Unfortunately, there are still activation errors.

I should have figured out the reason for the "unsupported OS", it's a reason I'm becoming less satisfied with microsoft.

Pubisher 2002 was included in my office XP professional as a "bonus".  The cardboard sleeve does have printed on it that publisher 2002 is included.

But indeed, publisher 2002 needed activation due to "major changes in the system".  I never use it except to view the files of others and even then rarely, so I can remove it if that turns out to be easiest.

After activating publisher 2002, office still said it was "already activated".  I tried the OGA validation, which failed with "office has not been activated".

I then deleted the office data.dat, activated publisher 2002 first, then activated office XP.  I did the RunDiags which passed for everything.  I did the diagnostic report, double checked all the office products to make certain they all said they were activated and started to write a reply.  My internet explorer choked before I finished, so after a reboot, I then tried the delete data.dat, activate pubisher, activate office, run validation.  It still failed due to "office needs to be activated".  The diagnostic report appended here is after rebooting.

    tnx, Daniel R. Rhodes

  • Daniel,

If you do not have Internet connectivity, or you choose not to activate Office by using the Internet, you can select the “Activate by using the telephone” option. To activate the product this way, follow these steps:

    1) Start any Office program.
    2) In the “Office Activation Wizard”, click the “Activate by using the telephone” option, and then click Next
    3) Read the “Microsoft Office Privacy Policy” page, and then click “Next”.

Note You are not required to read the Microsoft Office Privacy Policy to continue these steps in Microsoft Office 2007. A link to the Microsoft Office Privacy Policy is provided so that you can read it at any time.

    4) In the “Select your location” list, select a country or region. Call the telephone number that is listed on line 2. The customer service agent will ask you for the installation ID and will give you a confirmation ID in return. Type the confirmation ID in the boxes provided.
    5) Click “Next”.
    6) On the “Activation Complete” page, click “Finish”.

Please reference the following KB Article should you have any problems http://support.microsoft.com/kb/903275/en-us.  Here you will find links for various resolutions which you may encounter.  Also reference the following site for various telephone activation centers:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326851 Please re-post here should you need further assistance. Thank you and have a great day!

Please reread my post.  This is not about telephone versus internet activation.  The products are activated, it's OGA which claims they aren't.

Any help?  This is extremely frustrating.  All office products say they are activated.  I've done the deletiong of the data.dat file and then reactivating more times than I count.

Still, only OGA says there is an activation problem.  The product say they are activated and they are not in restricted use mode.  I've posted the latest diagnosic results but have received no helpful information.  I'm giving the results again just in case they were missed last time.

Is there a site which will decode the diagnostic results?

    tnx, drr
