  • I've moved your post to the Firewall topic folder.

OneCare should have no impact on your router or on any other PCs in your network unless you used OneCare's WiFi security features, meaning that your router is support and OneCare detected that the wireless security on the router was off, offering to configure it for you.

I don't know what you mean by your network connections details. Do you mean the details for the connection in the Vista Network and Sharing Center, manage connections?

Are you using Vista or XP? How are the computers connected to the router? What is the make and model of the router? Is OneCare on one PC or both?

I think the first thing to do is to open OneCare and disable the firewall temporarily. Does this resolve all of the problems?

Do you have other security software installed and active? If so, remove it.

Let's then configure the firewall to allow file and printer sharing on your local network:

    Open OneCare

    Click Change Settings

On the firewall tab, click configure firewall

If the network is shown as Public, click Change Location to change it to "Home or Work."

    Click the Advanced Settings button

    Click Network connections tab.

If there are multiple active connections shown, you may need to disable the extras in your Windows network connections settings. (Network and Sharing Center, manage connections, in Vista; Right click My Network Places and select Properties on the Start menu in XP)

On the Ports and Protocols tab, add a check mark next to File and Printer Sharing - for subnet and Internet if the first setting alone (after all of the above are verified) does not allow Sharing to work.

If all of the above fail, please contact support.
