  • Question

  • Hi

I am basically a web developer. I wanna do MS certification.

After done some search on net, I got to know that MCTS on web based client development(Exam 70-528) would be the basic exam one for web developer.

Or is ther any other exam for web developer?

Book for this exam is “Self Paced MCTS on web based client development Training kit”. Is it?

Please correct me if am wrong.

  • This is a .Net 2.0 exam and was retired on June 30th, 2011 i.e. it's no longer available.  You should look into the .Net 4.0 exams http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/cert-vstudio.aspx#tab2

  • 70-528 is based on ASP.NET version 2.0, which at this point should be considered obsolete. You should be targetting either version 4.0, or at the very least version 3.5.

If you decide to pursue the MCTS on ASP.NET 3.5, you will need to pass TWO exams: 70-536 and 70-562.

If you opt for version 4.0 (the latest), then you need to take only 70-515.

Whichever exam you choose, go to the exam description page and read the tabs labelled "Skills Measured" (which lists the skills that you need) and "Preparation Materials" which will give you links to the Training Kits. For instance, the page for 70-515 is here:
