    I finally found the product key on the back of my computer since I don't have the CD for the computer anymore.

    I pull up Microsoft Word or PowerPoint it ask for a product key so I type it in but, a message comes up and says that the product key is incorrect.

    Why does this message keep popping up when the key that i am using is the one on the back of the computer?

    The product key affixed to your computer is for Microsoft Windows (the operating system) and not for Microsoft Office.  Please review the following:

    The Product Key on the back of your Computer is for Windows - not Office.
