Compatibel Malware RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

During this time when thief of personal information through electronic means is at an all time high, I wonder if adding additional malware softwares would be a good idea.  I have OneCare, I would also like to add Spy Sweeper.

Is Spy Sweeper compatible with OneCare?

    Thank you,

    Nissi1

  • Hello Nissi1, Spysweeper is not compatible with One Care. Generally any antimalware application which has an active scan component will not be compatible with One Care.

  • Good morning Jim,

    Thank you for your reply.

A little more information.  In SpySweeper I only have the spyware is enabled, the antivirus is disabled.  If this remains incompatible, can you recommend an antispyware or any scan I may use to ensure my computer has not been compromised?

As I mentioned in a previous post, OneCare missed a low level malware, Vundo, that MBAM found.  I realize there is not an antimalware that is 100% effective, which is why I am searching for other scans that will work with OneCare.

    Thank you,

  •  You can use MBAM as an on-demand scanner since the free version does not include real time scanning. I haven't used Spysweeper in quite a while but if memory serves me correctly Spysweeper will run background processes even when turned off and that could cause issues.
