Failed to install my dev-builds to some phones - why? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi team,

Recently I ran across one strange situation. We have 4 four phones (and 3 are of the same model, Lumia 950, the last one is Lumia 735 updated to Win10). All phones are on latest OS (Anniversary update, build 14393). All phones are in developer mode. All phones are configured to install apps to device memory, not SD card.

Symptoms: two 950 Lumias can install dev builds of our UWP app successfully. One 950 Lumia and 735 Lumia refuse to do so.

Ways of the app distribution we tried with the same negative result:

    1) Manual copying the .appxbundle or .appx to the phone (then tap "Install" and nothing happens on 2 of 4 phones)

    2) Distributing via HockeyApp (then tap "Install" and nothing happens on 2 of 4 phones)

    3) Installation via web interface of Device Portal. On that two phones, we receive an error

      a) In case you install the app itself

Failed to start deployment. Failure text: Package failed updates, dependency or conflict validation.(0x80073cf3)

      b)  In case you install the app and two ARM dependencies (Microsoft.NET.CoreRuntime.1.0.appx and Microsoft.VCLibs.ARM.Debug.14.00.appx):

Failed to start deployment. Failure text: Package could not be registered. (0x80073cf6)

    4) Installation via WinAppDeployCmd command-line tool. On that two phones it says:

Opening connection to device at '127.0.0.1'.

        0x80131500 - Exception from HRESULT: 0xC00000BB
        0xC00000BB - Exception from HRESULT: 0xC00000BB

Could you, please, advise what can be a reason of the such behavior? It happens for our app as well as for dummy test app.

    Very thanks in advance,

    Yury

  • Hi Yury Schkatula,

Since you have two phones that installed your dev build app successfully. So, your issue was not in your code. It’s out of the scope for this forum. Please ask on answer site: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us
