  • Question

  •

Shouldn't these be external links and not internal pages of our own site?

  • Hi,

If you haven't used the tools lately, please notice that you can download many more links and filter based on criteria.

  • They are planning on allowing us to filter our own sites out in the future.  Here is the general response that gets answered when that question gets asked.  Quoted from this post:

Looking at your backlinks these are the best ranking pages linking to your site.  Meaning, normally you wouldn't get these to show up but the other backlinks, of which there are very few to your site, rank really poorly.

Take it as a sign that you need to work on the links.  In the future we are adding the option to hide links from you to you, so you wil be able to see the other sites.

  • In other search engines we have thousands!

Our site has been around for 11 years.  No black hat. No link spamming.

Although we have suffered from site scrapers .. not much we can do about that though.

  • For all we know, you could have thousands in Live as well.  It only shows the first ten in webmaster tools, and "link:" isn't working.

  • Then it should be fixed.

  • I agree.

I doubt they plan to fix "link:" anytime soon, for more info on that, please see Can't Find MSNs Back Links.  It's very interesting to me that replacing the "link:" functionality was supposedly a big reason why they created webmaster tools, and then they give us such extremely limited functionality in the tool in this regard, when compared with either Google or Yahoo.

Giving us a larger number than ten, and allowing us to filter out our own sites would help a great deal.
