Windows XP Pro Slipstream RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm looking for instructions for creating a slipstreamed instalation CD of Windows XP Pro with SP2.

    Details:
    • I currently have a computer preinstalled with OEM XP Home with SP2 and I have the OEM instalation CD from the manufacturer.
    • I have a copy of Windows XP Pro (with no service packs)(non OEM) and a license.
    • I want to upgrade my XP Home installation to XP Pro so that I can utilize the Remote Desktop feature which is not available in the XP Home edition.
    • When I try to do so, I get an error which I believe is due to the fact that I am trying to upgrade an instalation with SP2 with a CD that has no service packs so it complains saying the current installation is newer than the one i am trying to instal.
    • I've seen threads that mention "slipstreaming"; the combining of the files from an instalation Cd with update files and service packs.
    • I want to combine my Windows XP Pro CD with SP2 so that I can upgrade my Windows XP Home with SP2 computer.
    Thanks
    BW
