    What updates are these machines likely to have when they are purchased and what would need to be updated?

    Well, at this point, there is virtually no chance it will have PP2 (although I'm sure that will change in time).  As for the HP updates, I don't know (I don't use HP).  But what difference does it make?  Just install the HP and MS updates after you purchase it.
