Cannot Shutdown RRS feed

  • Question

  • Ever since I installed WHS I have not shut it down at all. Last night I tried at least 5 times I was not able to shut it down completely. WHS looks like it was going to shut down but hangs after logging off. Eventually I just hold down the power button. Anyone had this too?

    Thanks

  • Been pretty smooth sailing for me with the shut down feature.  You should report it for us.

    I found two shutdown hangs:

One states he couldn't shutdown without a keyboard, mouse, and monitor.  Check them out, if neither one is what refers to your issue, please make a bug report and post the link here!

  • When I did my 1st install of WHS my server was located in my lounge and connected directly to my BT Home Hub and it shut down perfectly using the console. When I relocated the server to my computer room with a 'switch' hard wired to the BT Home Hub, it would not shut down at all. I had to resort to turning off via the power switch on the case. Since then I have reinstalled WHS due to a primary hard drive change and it now shuts down perfectly once again. I can only put it down the change of connections, either that or there was an error that had occurred with my initial installation, which I doubt.

  • I think I am sure I figure out the problem. My hardware is not compatiable. When I do a shutdown, I can hear the power on the tower "click" but yet the screen is still on. I remember previously on this machine, I had XP on it, and when I do a shutdown, I hear the click on the tower, everything shuts down.
