PC says copy of Windows 7 is not authentic RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a desktop HP I bought some months ago at Best Buy. It worked well but then it started saying that the copy of Windows 7 I have is not authentic. The desktop screen is black and on the bottom right hand corner says: Windows 7 / Build 7601 / This copy of Windows is not genuine. I ran the diagnostic test and it says the following:

Your PC appears to have 'lost' the SLIC table that should be present for the OEM_SLP Key in use to be able to self-activate.
You need to change the Key to the one on your COA sticker using the Change Product Key link on the System properties page, and may need to activate by telephone.
