Installing Microsoft Money on a New Computer RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have to move my Money program to a new computer. I installed the application but I

am not able to open the last file I saved with the new application. Even after I figured out

how to change the password nothing displays inside the application. I used the last backup

file I created on my old computer. Any ideas.

  • To help us help you, please post back with:

      - what version of Windows are you using on your new computer?

      - are you in the US, UK or elsewhere?

      - what version of Money did you install

      - how did you install it, - download or disk?

      - you say that you changed the password.  Was that a Microsoft Live password?  Did you change it on the Microsoft web site?

  • To what Bill asked, let me add:

You say "not able to open" and "nothing displays inside the application". Please clarify as "not able to open" and "nothing displays" seem like different symptoms. For the former, I'd expect some error message or something. What happens if you try to open the Sample file? (Widows-R, enter text "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Money Plus\sample.mny" with the quotes)?

You say you "used the last backup file [you] created on [your] old computer". How did you move it to the new computer? Where did you put it on the new computer? Was it an .MBF or a .MNY file?
