According to your MGA report, the installed copy of Windows 7 Ultimate is genuine.

I disagree. This is an OEM install, on an ASUS system according to the SLIC table. However in the Other Data section it reads:
<Manufacturer>System manufacturer</Manufacturer><Model>System Product Name</Model>
This indicates a retail motherboard. Asus would have listed their information here. I would classify this install as counterfeit.

First of all who is correct? Second, If Carey is, How come it worked for well over a year with no problems? FYI I bought this home built, used, a little over a year ago. So if it is not genuine, how did it get on this computer? And what does it have to do with the MB? Would like to know these things for future. Also it showed in Start-computer-properties, that is was genuine for those + 1 years. Thanks all.

It has to do with the motherboard for the following reasons: an OEM install (such as the one you have - Windows License Type: OEM SLP) is made and licensed ONLY to be installed by a major system manufacturer such as Gateway or Dell or Asus. When they do the build out, they install a SLIC Table in the BIOS that interacts with the OS at boot time to automatically activate. In the Other Information section, they will list the company name and the system model. You have an OEM SLP install, but in the other information section, you have "System Manufacturer" and "System Product Name". Your SLIC table claims to be for an Asus system but they would never leave the company information out of the build.
Where did you get the OS CD from? They system may have originally been a legit Asus system, but if the motherboard were replaced, then it immediately becomes a new system that requires a new OS because OEM SLP installs are only licensed for the hardware upon which they were originally installed.

If a motherboard is a replacement for a defective motherboard, the OEM license would be okay to reuse.

I believe this is true only if the replacement motherboard is an exact duplicate of the original or if that is not available, then the updated one. In either event, Asus would have loaded a SLIC table into the BIOS and put their company information in the Other Information section. The fact that it says "System Manufacturer" and "System Product Name" IMO points to a retail motherboard...although I do admit it is possible that this was a botched update if the MB was replaced by Asus. This is something that OP needs to tell us.
