CRM 2011 - Outlook - created new user - how change Live ID RRS feed

  • Question

  • The user started in CRM 2011 while working for the parent company which has a different email domain from the subsidiary. Hence the user's LiveID was associated with her old address when she was issued an email address for the subsidiary. We created a new Live ID associated with the new address and created a new user in CRM for that Live ID. When we disabled her previous CRM user her Outlook which was still associated with that user disabled CRM. Her windows user is not a local admin on her machine. All the CRM options are disabled including the ability to do a repair installation. Will we need to enable her local admin rights to fix this?

  • Hello -

The user will need to re-configure the outlook client with the new user.  Have the user go to: Start --> all programs --> Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 --> Configuration Wizard.  I am not sure if this will require admin rights.

Keep in mind that if they have offline data it will be lost on re-configure.  To fix this the old user will have to be re-enabled, sync with online, then re-disable the user.

  • Thanks Brandon - we did need IT to temporarily grant the user local admin rights. Good tip about the offline data!
