Upgrade a CRM 4.0 cluster environment RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have a cluster CRM 4.0 environment (2 crm servers and 1 SQL server).

I would like to know what's the best procedure that should be followed in order to upgrade a from CRM 4.0 to CRM 2011 while keeping it a cluster environment.

The application contains plugins, html pages, Biztalk integration, ISV changes, Stunnware lookup.

    Thank you in advance

  • Hi ms_crm,

If you mean a windows cluster, you should first test all your custom solutions on a separate CRM 2011 dev environment, when signed off you should decide whether you do:

    1. Move CRM 4 to a different temporary environment and reconfigure the cluster to use CRM 2011 (CRM 4 would still be operational but on a temporary hardware) This would be the recommended approach
    2. Or simply remove CRM 4 and configure a new cluster (remember to backup the databases)

If you go with option 2 then you should bear in mind the company RTO in case something goes wrong.

    Hope it helps.
