Windows Home Server vs Windows media center RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm trying to decide whetehr I need Windows Media Center of would rather go with Windows Home Server.  I know what Home Server offers that media center doesn't.  The key question.  I would like home server to be able to do all that it does plus also function as a media center in terms of acting as a central DVR.  I know PP3 adds some sort of link in with media center but not sure exactly what capabilities it brings.  Thoughts?

  • If you want a DVR, then you want a Media Center.

What PP3 added was an automatic Recorded TV archiving service for Media Center (it moves shows from your local Recorded TV folder to a server share, and adds that share as a 'watched folder' on the MC box.)
It did not add Media Center functionality to WHS.

    Sorry to disappoint,
