CRM 2011 - Make field in Case Entity full access just for 1 user - Read only for others. RRS feed

  • Question

  • In CRM 2011, I have a field (whole number) in the Case Entity,
that is READ ONLY once the case is saved upon creation for all the organization.

I need to have this field editable for one user to be able to make -changes to it through its cycle.

Any help on how this can be done is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

  • If the field is a custom field, you should be able to use field level security for this. To do this:

    1. Create 2 field security profiles. Add the user who can edit the field to one profile, and all other users to the other profile
    2. Enable field level security for this field, and publish the case entity
    3. Grant the profile with the one user Create, Update and Read permission on this field
    4. Grant the other profile just Create and Read permission on this field

Note that CRM 2011 does not support field-level security on system fields

  • Hello Nick,

You can resolve that issue using JavaScript that's called during onload. It will check current user and enable that field if for this user it should be enabled.
