  • Question

  • Hello,

I received the promotional kit for Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 and can no longer activate it due to the site going down. I did some research and saw that Microsoft extended the time once already to June 20th. I went to "Microsoft Answers" and found people with the same issue who had said they had activated it after June 20th. I have been in contact with multiple sections of tech support all who have turned me away with just a simple, "We cannot help."

I installed this on my machine already and this is a MAJOR problem for me.

There is no advertised expiration date and I had only installed this due to the fact that I thought it would work out fine and great...I was sadly mistaken.

As of now the best help I got was from the users on "Microsoft Answers" who told me what to do and who to call even if it didn't get me far at all...

Please I need help and thank you in advance.

  • Hello drattino,

This is all off-topic to the Vista Genuine Advantage forum, BTW.

Not that familair with the situation except for what I have read thru an internet search.

AFAICT the site was there to issue product keys.  Once you got a product key, normal activation would take place.  So your assertion that since the site is down you can't activate is not true.

Seems like a case of, "You snooze, you lose."

  • I was told to come here and sorry if it's off topic but I had no idea...

but yeah you got it right the site was to provide product keys and such....

some people were still getting keys from customer service.....

    here is a link...

and a quote of the post i am referring to in that link...

"Actually I received Windows Vista Ultimate at one of the MS events and I forgot to register at this site. After a few transfers and re-routes I was given this number (425-882-8080) and told to ask for Pre-Sales.

I explained the situation to the cust serv rep and he gladly created the Product Key for me.

I'm not sure how the this will help the guy from France, but this worked for me in the US.
