Computers and Backups, phantom drive RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have changed the hard drives in one of my PC's to a different configuration, where as before there were two hard drives, there is now one.
If I run Configure backup on WHS,  it still shows the 2nd drive as being available, but not ticked.
How do I get rid of this phantom drive in the Choose Volumes to Back Up dialogue window?

  • Hello,
there is no direct way to get rid of such phantom drives currently of which I know.
At least for a while the reference to the old drive would be necessary also for maintaining the existent backups, so removing the disk from the configuration at all would also leave the backups done unaccessible.
Maybe also, that there is made no difference made between USB attached disks (which may not always be attached) and a replaced internal disk.
So simply leave it unchecked in the current backup selection and you are done.
    Best greetings from Germany

  • Perhaps it will disapear once all the old backups phase out.
