Windows Genuine Advantage tool problems RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am using a registered copy of windows 7, 64 bit, SP1, Professional and I'm having trouble using Help files copied from my old XP computer. I followed the Microsoft Help and Support instructions and down loaded "WinHlp32.exe". During the Windows validation process I get the message " This version of the Windows Genuine Advantage tool is no longer supported. Please download the newest version ....." . HOW DO I DO THIS????

  • You must use Internet Explorer for such access to downloads - anything else currently give the problem you are seeing.

  • The trick is you MUST use the 32-bit version of IE.

Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe and run it from there.
