Key Activation & Installation Help RRS feed

  • Question

  •

With an existing LiveID, I activated a OneCare product key via onecare.live.com.  The key was accepted but I was not prompted with an installation Wizard and couldn't find where to install the proper version.

So, I defaulted to installing the Free Trial and it installed and is running - but is not activated or associated with my recently activated product key and it won't let me associate it with my current account.

Trying to turn the Free into Subscribed with the key, I'm getting Message 3010 saying No Plans Available.  "You have previously purchased a plan"

How should I resolve this endless loop?

I need to either activate the current trial version or install a new version that can associate with an existing activation key.

    Thanks

  • When you activated using the key, you created a subscription associated with a LiveID. Open OneCare, click on Subscribe and use the *same* LiveID to associate the trial with your active subscription.

If the activation dialog already contains a LiveID from a prior attempt or one used in trial mode, but this is not the one you need to activate with to associate it with your subscription, see this post for how to reset this - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2776450&SiteID=2

  • My Vista Home Premium HP laptop crashed.  I have had to format the hard disk and return the computer to the factory settings.

Naturally I lost my Live One care details.  When I try to get back to Live Onecare I am asked for my security key or passphrase.  I have been a subscriber for two years and have forgotten the key, so I am stuck.

How can I find or get get the security key again for this laptop? I have two other computers in theonecare circle.  They are working fine.

    Please help.

"Security Key or passphrase?" I'm not sure where you are seeing this.

On another PC, open OneCare and click Help and then About to see your Subscription ID. That is the LiveID to sign in with.

If you don't recall the LiveID you used for your subscription, you will need to contact support who can provide that information to you using your Key and/or contact information.

Alternatively, sign in at http://billing.microsoft.com with email addresses that you have set up as LiveIDs and one will show your subscription listed - that would the LiveID to use to activate with.
