Network firewall RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am unable to open Quickbooks 2006 Pro in multiuser mode, with the firewall on.  Each workstation has quickbooks

listed as an allowed program in the firewall list.  Program will open with firewall turned off, but not with it on, cant leave the firewall turned off?  Running five work stations on a windows XP lan network, two of them already had onecare and worked fine with quickbooks prior to adding onecare to the server.  After adding onecare to the quickbooks server, and the other two workstations, multiuser mode will no longer work....each workstation will open in single user mode with the firewall on.?  Of course in single user mode only one machine can run quickbooks at a time....we need all of them runing quickbooks pro in our business at the same time.  There is not a executable file I can find that runs when in multiuser mode that can be added to the firewall allowed list.

  • Seems like you will need to open some ports in addition to allowing the program per se. You will need to work with the Quickbooks to find out what port it needs and then add them to firewall on the server via "OneCare>Change Settings>Firewall>Advanced>Ports & Protocols" tab.
