Setting up business units RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have different departments in our company, (Marketing, Sales, Service, Operations etc) and in each division we have different sections like in Sales we have Govt sector, Private Sector, Education etc.. Is it recommended to create different business units for different sectors?

  • If you are enforcing data visibilty for those groups, then BU's make sense.  The automatic sharing capability of the BU level security roles makes that a lot easier to maintain.

  • I generally recommend people setup BU's only to represent security requirements, not Org Hierarchy.  Most orgs change their structure fairly frequerntly and having to keep the CRM BU hierarchy in synch can become tedious.  The security requirements that control what records people can access tend to change less frequently.

  • Thanks Matt.
So Should I have a single BU (As the company name) and just keep the different divisions as Security roles?
Basically the security roles for most of the team are same, but just that the teams should not be able to view wach others records.
