Can anyone else confirm this? I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium Edition. I've recently installed the public beta of Service Pack 1. Now WHS is identifying the OS as "Windows Server Longhorn Home Premium Edition" - whatever that is!!

  • lol Smile Yep, and it's what betas are for, just wanted to confirm it isn't an anomaly with my setup before I bug it on connect. (or attempt to!)

And it's a clever trick that by applying a service pack Windows Vista can become Windows Server 2008 Wink

  • Hi!

I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium Edition with Service Pack 1 (RTM) and my Windows Home Server identifies my computer as a computer with the operating system "Windows Server Longhorn Home Premium Edition".

I guess the problem is a Windows Home Server issue and it isn't fixed. I havn't seen any signs of trouble because of this yet though.

    Regards

Yep, an previously mentioned, this is a known bug. All it does is identify it as Longhorn, because it used to be called that ages ago. It is fixed within WHS PP1.

My magic 8 but says April 8 for PP1 but it's been known to be a filthy liar before.

  • I'm going to guess that you've seen neither this blog post nor Todd Headrick's post elsewhere in the forum. There is a broad public beta planned in May, so don't look for PP1 to be released earlier than June (my guess is very late June).

For sure, I read that post after this one.    My magic 8 ball has always been a liar though so I wasn't duped.....this time.
