I have a genuine copy of Windows XP but it will not validate RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have been experiencing problems with Internet explorer lately that have just been occurring in the past week or so.  I have an online email account through my school that I can no longer check because when I do attempt to check it, it says "Done" and it has the little yellow sign with the ! in it in the lower left corner of the internet browser.  I was attempting to upgrade to Internet explorer 7, however, it will not validate my copy of windows.  I have also been having problems with manually running the windows update, I can't do it.  Everytime I load the page for Microsoft Windows Update, it just loads a blank page and says "Done" in the lower left corner.  If I refresh the page it stays that way.

I ran the diagnostic too for Windows Genuine Advantage and got these results.  Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Tbone,

Are you receiving any error codes whatsoever? Also can you try to validate using Windows Internet Explorer vs. firefox.  Try this and post back and let us know of any errors etc.

    Thank you,

  • No error codes or anything.  The update page would pop up in a new window and would just be blank with the explorer logo down at the bottom left corner of the page showing done.  Really weird.  Anyway, I reformatted the computer, it was easier for me to do that than to mess around with it anymore.  Thanks for the reply though.
