Can't configure OC 2007 settings RRS feed

  • Question

  •

We currently have a Standard LCS 2005 SP1 environment using OC 2005 client.  On a PC (Vista) that worked fine with Office 2007 and OC 2005, I installed the OC 2007 beta.

Many of my options are greyed out, and I cannot set Automatic or manual configuration.  It defaults to "Configure settings" and connect using TCP (our norm), but I can't type anything into the server name or IP field.  We do have a policy that configures these settings (server name/tcp) automatically for the OC 2005 client; do I have to exclude myself from that policy to allow me to manually configure the OC 2007 client?

    Thanks!

  • I think that the new client is only compatible with the new server. Have you installed a new server?

  • That's correct - OCS 2007 requires a 2007 backend. 2005 can work with a 2007 backend as long as the client hasnot been upgraded to enhanced presence, but the opposite is not available.

  • Ah, thanks Pedro and Brian.  I have not installed the beta server yet... for some reason I thought the client would work with either rather than the new server working with either client.  Mental dyslexia.  Smile

    Thanks again!

  • It's a real shame you can not connect and 2K7 client to a 2k5 SP1 server pool "(
