My WHS V1 has crashed due to a faulty motherboard. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am going to renew the system with an ASUS P8H61-M motherboard and an i3 Core processor

I anticipate that the system will not boot because of the new Chipset.

Is there anyone out there who has had this problem and solved it

Please let me know what you did.

  • Server recovery is what you will need. Boot from the installation media and partway through the setup wizard you should be offered options for server recovery and new installation. Make sure you have any needed storage drivers available; if you need drivers for your system drive those will have to be on a floppy. Choose the recovery option at the appropriate screen and setup should take care of the rest.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

  • With some luck it will boot, given the system disk is in proper position and you may have to alter the SATA controller settings in BIOS to run as IDE/ATA/PATA compatible instead of AHCI.
