Integration of Project server 2007 with MOSS 2007 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Our comapny is developing its intranet in sharepoint 2007, we are in need of integrating it with project server 2007. I.e Microsoft project plan will be published to project server 2007 and should get integrated back to intranet sharepoint site.

I am just few days old in sharepoint and am not sure if what i am asking is acheivable or not, any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Looking forwards,

    Nikhil.

  • Project Server has to be installed on top of WSS so it works quite nicely with MOSS.  At a high level, here's the basic steps you'd take:

    1) Install Project Server making sure to say you want to use an existing server farm.

    2) Rerun the SharePoint Configuration Wizard -- this will update your SP install with all of the new stuff Project Server Installed

    3) Open Central Administration > Operations > Services on Server and enable the Project Server service

Once you've done this you should be able to select from new templates.  So you could create your site collection and then add Project Sites used by Project Server as needed.

  • John,

I've tried to follow these instructions but I seem to be having some issues.  I attempt to install PS2007, and it fails to install.  It doesn't give much information.  I go to the control panel, repair the installation, and then run the SP config wizard, and it says the MSSQL$OfficeServers database cannot be started.  It suggests repairing the product using Add/Remove products.  The only problem is, that isn't installed.

I imagine the failed installation and attempted repair of PS2007 did not work, so this is where I should start, however I'm not really sure what to do and searching the 'nets on the subject doesn't prove out very much... any ideas?

  • After the install fails are there any errors that show up in your Event Viewer?

    1. Install MOSS Don,t run the Configjuration.
    2. Install Project Server and then run the configuration for final configuration with Project Server and MOSS
