  • Hello Kimjio,

If the school provided the Upgrade Windows 7 software then they also provided you a Windows 7 Product key too, right?

Look at the Product key that the school provided you and now look at the Product key listed in the Report above. Are they the same? Most likely that are not the same becase Windows is currently using it's Keyless Install Key. A Keyless Install key is used when no key is entered during install.  The keyless Install key acts like a Trial key and allows the user to use Windows for 30 days before it requires a Valid Product Key to be entered.  Now that 30 days have passed, Windows now needs you to enter the Valid Product key that the School provided you.

You need to click the Start button, right-click Computer and select Properties.  In the window that appears scroll down to the bottom and click the Change Product key button and enter the Product key the school gave you.

If you get any error, please write it down so you can tell use the exact error message.

    Thank you,

    Darin MS

The Key in use here is the Default (Keyless Install) Key - meaning that you neglected to enter your Key during installation (or it's somehow got lost)
You need to enter your own Key from the packaging, or from the COA sticker on your computer - to do this, go to the System Properties page, and click on the link at the bottom to Change Product Key

  • the COA sticker on my computer is the Product Key for Windows Vista

I done my upgrade of Windows 7 in my school so any ways to approve my activation?

  • Contact the school.  If you got your upgrade from an MSDNAA program then I don't think you can reactivate it.  If you are no longer in school purchase a retail upgrade copy of Windows 7 or restore the copy of Vista that came with your computer.
