Changing the View for an Opportunity RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi folks

Hopefully I'm posting in the right area.

I'm fairly new to Microsoft Dynamics CRM and have a question with regards to changing the view for an opportunity.

A colleague had told me that he had changed the Sales stage for a particular opportunity from 10% to 20% without changing the opportunity owner to himself. This meant that he could no longer view these opportunities because they have gone into other Account Manager's pipelines.

Basically I'm just curious if it is possible to create a temprary view which will allow my colleague to see all of the opportunities at 20% so that he can identify which ones he is working on and allocate to himself?

Please let me know if I'm not being clear or you need more information.

    Kind Regards

    Linden

  • Hi Linden,

There are two points you need to consider:

    1. Firstly, do security roles for the user allow them to see/edit the opportunity even if it is not assigned to themselves. Their role must have at least Business Unit access to opportunity on Read & Write assuming that their Manager is in the same Business Unit as them. See http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg334673.aspx . If the user doesn't have access, the role will need to be changed, or the records shared with the user.

    2. As long as the user has access to the record, Users can create their own 'saved views' by performing an Advanced Find and selecting the criteria to be where the opportunity probability is equal to 20% - this can be saved and will be accessible via the standard view selector drop down. See http://rc.crm.dynamics.com/rc/regcont/en_us/live/help/source_find_AdvFind_Run.htm
