vista became invalid after I restored my system RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a IBM thinkpad x60 and it comes with vista business. I upgraded it to 2g memory 1 months ago. The system was restored (restore everything) back to earlier stage which is before I upgraded the memory. The windows popped up says the windows is not genuine. Here is a copy of my diagnostic report:

  • The key used to install Vista on this box is a OEM preinstall key. Because you have reinstalled you need to enter the product key on the COA label on the computer itself.

    1. You can start by typing "slui.exe 4" in the search field in the Start Menu and pressing Enter. Follow the prompts and enter the product key from the label and then continue to activation and then reboot.

    2. Once you're done, please revalidate by clicking on "Validate Windows" here: www.microsoft.com/genuine

After you've validated successfully you can log out and log back in or reboot to get rid of any non-genuine messaging you may be getting.

    Thanks,
