Web server and System volume RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, all.  I've read some of the threads about using WHS as a web server, as well as the caveats about possibly breaking remote access in doing so.  I fully understand this, but I think WHS would make an excellent server for a family website as long as the paths containing the remote management pages are left alone

These pages are currently hosted on the 10GB system volume, though.  Considering that the size of this volume was determined to be adequate for managing the operating system, logs, etc.  I can see a possible problem if I start putting web pages willy-nilly on this volume as well.  Is it safe to use the Data volume instead, or will that interfere with the proper operation of the backups and shared files?  Using Remote Desktop, I can see all of the shared directories as subdirectories of the Data volume.  Has anyone seen any issues with mapping IIS to directories within these shared volumes?
