I have absolutely fallen in love with WHS. Currently running it on a home brew box as a home server with zero problems. It works SO well that it would fill a really serious need I have for a SIMPLE workgroup server such as this for the Church I volunteer at as the Systems Admin. We are badly in need of a server for about 15 full time and 10 or so part time users. We do NOT NEED all the bells and whistles (read Active Directory) of a full Windows 200x server. We need a simple workgroup server for folder sharing and WHS does exactly what we need. My question is: is it possible to purchase or upgrade WHS to allow more than the standard 10 CALS.
No.
Without the ability to do this, we simply would not be able to use WHS which would be a shame because it's perfect for us.
Is there ANY way to do this and be fully legal?
If your talking about more than 10 computers, your only option is to set up a second server. If however, you're talking strictly about more than 10 users, you can do that by either A) giving multiple users the same user name and password or B) enabling the Guest account on the server (which would then allow anyone in your LAN to connect to it).
