  • How if any can the real time scanner be selected in another programs options as the default a/v scanner?

  • Hello robmax, you won't see this option in any a/v program since there should be only one program with active scanning installed on a computer.

  • To expand on Jim's reply -

    if OneCare is installed, the real time protection is on and running, so no other program needs to know what protection is being provided and by what program. Any file that is written to disk is being scanned by OneCare and any file that is being executed, that is launched or loaded into memory, is being scanned. If you have a download manager, for example, that calls for you to specify the virus scanner to scan downloaded files, OneCare cannot be selected here as that functionality is not available. If you wish to be doubly sure that a file is safe, save it to the drive, then open Windows Explorer and right click the file, selecting to scan with OneCare.
