False "Low Disk Space" Warning RRS feed

  • Question

  • One of the laptops in my network is giving a low disk space error on the C:drive.

It's running Windows XP SP3 with a 75GB capacity HDD, broken into two partitions.  A service partition that was preloaded (6.7GB) and the OS/C:drive partition taking up the remaining ~68GB.

I used a disk analyzer which reported that the C:drive is only carrying 20GB worth of data, which should leave 48GB worth of free space.  However, windows is reporting that the C:drive only has 4GB worth of free space.

After running CHKDSK /F, I am still having the same issue.

I am baffled by the issue.  Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

  • Given that this is the Windows Home Server forum, you will probably get a better result if you ask in the Windows XP forums. That said, try running disk cleanup.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
